The first and only Fly Fishing Film Festival and Fly Fair in the UK.
In our outstanding Lake District venue we aim to promote the very best in Fly Fishing, Fly Tying, Fly Casting and Fly Film. You will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with Angling Celebrities, enjoy a host of the best Domestic & International Fly Dressers practising the art of Trout Fly, Grayling Fly, Sea Trout Fly, Salmon Fly, Pike Fly, Salt Water Fly and just about every fly tying technique under the sun, plus Champion Fly Casters will be available to demonstrate and advise on casting techniques and fly-fishing tactics. Our vision is to inspire more people to explore, enjoy and represent the fly fishing world, and to provide a platform to showcase fly fishing films from our stunning home waters here in the UK and around the world.
We look forward to you joining us for a weekend of Fly Fishing and Fly Tying at Fly Test 2015!
The FDG will have a stand there and some Leeds members will be assisting. See flyfest.org or contact Dudley for further information.
While we were tying at the CLA Game Fair @ Harewood House this year we were approached by Davy Newall to do a similar thing at Fly Fest this year. David Hild and Jim O’Brien will be on the FDG stand helping. The Fly Fest will be held on the 3rd & 4th of October at the Rheged Discovery Centre on the A66 just off the M6 at Jnc. 40 (Penrith).
“I need volunteers to man our FDG stand on both days ie Saturday & Sunday 3rd & 4th October. I’m quite looking forward to it. I’m currently planning an extremely flexible stand aimed at getting people to tie their first fly. So any volunteers will require to bring spare vices, tools, hooks & materials. I’m looking at either “one on one” or if we’re over subscribed “one on 2 to 4. I realise that this is extremely short notice but I’ve only received confirmation that it was happening last Thursday when I was in the middle of Grafham practicing for the John Watt & this was after 3 e-mails & a few phone calls.
I’m not trying for the same set up as we had at the CLA but if some one would like to set up a Bugs corner please feel free to do so. There will be some excellent Tyers at the Fly Fest & as far as I’m concerned they can deal with the more intricate nuances of fly tying where as we’ll aim at tying some lures & some simple flies that demonstrate basic techniques that will result in a punter leaving having joined up full of the will to win with their first fly in their pocket.
The Fly Fest is now in it’s 2nd year & is being set up to rival the BFFI. Any volunteers have free access to the show & hopefully will enjoy their time there.

The Fly Dressers Guild have a stand at the CLA Game Fair this weekend, Friday 31st July to 2nd August and some of the Leeds members will be assisting.
There will be a clinic run by members for the public to iron out their problems with tying. Also a youngster’s first fly competition and a bug corner for identifying subsurface life.
Various entry prices depending on day.
Video of last years event.
Just to let you know that on this coming Sunday, David Hild and Michael Pattinson will be demonstrating the fly tying art at the West Yorkshire branch of the Salmon & Trout Association, on the green at Burnsall.
The weather forecast is fine so if you fancy a little trip out it should be good.
This year we have our own stand, and if you would like to take a friend to show them what we do it would be a good opportunity.
